Amfetamines including MDMA (Ecstasy)
Abstract
Amfetamines, particularly metamfetamine and 3,4-methylenedioxymethamfetamine (MDMA), are abused widely. The features of amfetamine poisoning are related predominantly to stimulation of central and peripheral adrenergic receptors though, in addition, hyperthermia and hyponatraemia are features of severe MDMA toxicity.
